Book Launch – Coconut Dreams by Derek Mascarenhas.

April 18, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm EDT

Book*hug and Another Story Bookshop
…invite you to the book launch for

Coconut Dreams
by Derek Mascarenhas

The event will feature a reading from the book, followed by a conversation with Terese Pierre

These 17 stories are tethered by siblings Aiden and Ally, whose parents, Felix and Clara Pinto, left Goa, India, for a new life in Burlington, Ont. The first and last stories are set in the West Indian coastal state, but most involve the kids’ paradoxical experience of being Canadian-born yet outsiders in the predominantly white 1990s community in Canada

About the Author:
Derek Mascarenhas is a graduate of the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies Creative Writing Program, a finalist and runner-up for the Penguin Random House of Canada Student Award for Fiction, and a nominee for the Marina Nemat Award. His fiction has been published in places such as Joyland, The Dalhousie Review, Switchback, Maple Tree Literary Supplement, Cosmonauts Avenue, and The Antigonish Review.
